I thought of
writing some unknown tips and tricks today. Advanced users may know the tricks
but new users must be delighted to know the tricks. So, let’s know about some
hidden features of your favorite web browser Google Chrome.
I have
nothing new to say about Google Chrome. In one word, it is a fantastic browser.
According to the count of StatCounter, almost 56% desktop users all over the
world use Google Chrome. Besides, the browser is also popular in smartphone. For
the success of Google Chrome, the name ‘Chrome’ has become a brand name. And it
has some products also. Chromecast and Chromebook is one of them. Google has
opened up the main codes of Google Chrome as an open-source. The name of the
open-source is ‘Chromium’. However, let’s go to the main post...
Pull up many
tabs and open in a new window:
All of us
know that if we drop a tab by dragging, it opens with a new window. But, do you
know that a completely new window could be opened by dragging and dropping many
tabs together? Keep pressing Ctrl key of your keyboard and click on the tabs
you want to open together in a new window. Now, drag and drop the tabs anywhere
you wish. You will find that a new window has been opened with your selected
tabs. To understand it more clearly, look at the images below:
Your Google
Chrome is a calculator:
Yes my
friends, your Google Chrome can do the general calculations itself. And it can
do this task without entering google dot com. Type any general math on the
omnibox of your Google Chrome. No need to press Enter key, your Google Chrome
will do the sum spontaneously. However, to enjoy this feature, Google has to be
your default search engine. If you select Yahoo or Bing as your default search
engine, you will not enjoy this feature. Another word, this feature does not
work when you use incognito window or private browsing.
Your Chrome
omnibox is a unit converter:
Along with a
calculator, your Chrome omnibox is a unit converter too. Write the unit you
want to convert on the omnibox. Your unit will be converted. The same rules
here, your selected search engine has to be Google, not Yahoo or Bing. And you
will not be able to enjoy the feature if you use incognito window or private
browsing.
Search by
dropping:
Highlight
any text on a webpage. Now drag and drop it on to the omnibox or tab. The
search engine will show you the result. It is just like searching anything by
copying and pasting any text. But, in this process you will be able to search 2
times more quickly.
Visit the
site by dropping URL:
It is a nice
feature. Just drag the link you want to open and drop it on to the omnibox. You
can edit it also. If you want to open a link in a new tab, just drag it and
drop it on to the new tab icon.
Switch to
one tab to another tab using keyboard command:
I like this
feature very much. If you like working quickly, you should also like this
feature. Keep pressing the Ctrl key of your keyboard. Now, press 1,2,3,4,5
serially and see the result. Really interesting, isn’t it?
Use keyboard
command to navigate web page:
You can
navigate any webpage up or down by using Space key. The page will navigate down
if you press Space key only. Press Shift+Space key to navigate up.
Bring back
the tab closed mistakenly:
Many of you
may like working quickly as I do. But, sometimes we make great mistakes while
working quickly. In work-pressure, we close such a tab by mistake which will
not be brought back ever. However, Google Chrome users have no tension in this
regard. Because, Google Chrome can forgive your little mistakes. Just press
Ctrl+Shift+T and see the magic.
Clear all
browsing data easily:
Clearing all
kinds of history is an easy task now. You can delete all browsing history very
quickly if you want. Deleting browsed URLs, cache image, saved passwords, cookies
etc. is a matter of one second only. Command Ctrl+Shift+Delete on your
keyboard. A new window called ‘clear browsing data’ will be opened. Now, clear
whatever you want.
Save any
link as a bookmark on desktop by dragging:
Do you want
to save your favorite website link on your desktop? It is a very easy task.
Highlight the link from the omnibox. Now, drag and release the link on to the
desktop. Your task is done.
Translate
anything:
It is a
wonderful feature. You can translate any website to any other language. Not
only that, you can also translate any word or sentence from any web page. And
the interesting matter is that you can do this task with Google Chrome in a few
seconds. Add official Google Translate Extension to your Google Chrome right
now. Then, highlight any word or sentence and click on the Google Translate
icon.
All for
today. There are some more hidden features which I could not discuss in this
post. I will try to discuss those in future. Comment below and let me know your
opinion about the post. Share the post if you think it helpful. Thank you.
